1. Cleansing

But if you want to be sure, you can consult your trusted dermatologist so they can recommend a cleanser that can suit you. As a model who is banking on looks for a living, it is best to know the basics. Do I have sensitive skin? Oily? Dry? Or a combination of both? Either way, it is best to be prepared as cleansers will be your best friend when it comes to basic skincare.

2. Stay Away from Harsh Chemicals

From the name itself, chemicals are bound to damage or dry your skin. In general, organic products work best on all skin types, but then again, do your research and ask your dermatologist for advice. Learn to read the back of your skincare products if they are “vegan” or “cruelty-free.” This means that your product is transparent and does not use harsh chemicals in the ingredients. It mostly applies to mineral or organic cosmetics or skin care products. “Cruelty-free” pertains to the fact that the product was not tested on animals.

Should you want to achieve a glow, apply tanning lotion subtly and evenly on your body so you wouldn’t end up looking too orange or fake. When it comes to sun exposure, swimsuit models or even outdoor photo shoots will subject you to the sun, but you can counter the side effects by applying sunblock all over your face and body. 4. Drink Water

The best thing about water is that not only is it free of chemicals but it’s also very accessible. Water allows the body to feel hydrated and fresh all day. Meaning your skin will thank you and you’ll end up with natural, glowing skin. Add lemon to your water to level up your skincare game. The lemon will help detoxify your body and free it from unwanted chemicals. Bear in mind that lemon has vitamin C, which is loaded with health benefits. Drink more than eight glasses a day because there is no such thing as too much water.

5. Get Plenty of Rest

Stress can cause breakouts and dry skin. A model’s schedule can be demanding and oftentimes, sleep is a luxury that many models can’t afford anymore. But whenever you can, make sure you get the right amount of shut-eye. You can save the partying and alcohol for later (alcohol and cigarettes in clubs are also known to cause dry skin) and get your well-deserved rest after a hard day’s work instead. Bear in mind that lack of sleep can cause severe eye bags, and that may be something that even the most expensive concealers can’t cover.

6. Change Your Bed Sheets and Pillows Regularly

So you’ve fallen asleep, done your cleansing, and also drank more than eight glasses of water in a day. Why are you breaking out the next day? Chances are, you haven’t changed the pillowcase for almost a month. Pillowcases in particular are a haven for bacteria, oil, and dirt. It tends to build up and attaches itself to your face, giving you dreaded acne the following day. Combat this by changing your pillow regularly. Some dermatologists would recommend to do this nightly, but you can opt for a weekly change in pillowcases if you don’t have the time and luxury to do so.

7. Make Sure to Stick to Your Routine

A model does not need to be extravagant when it comes to his or her beauty routine. In fact, models like Gigi Hadid and Heidi Klum stick to drugstore brands when it comes to their favorite products. When you find the right products that work well for you, make sure you follow that by heart. You may want to experiment with other products that also work well on your skin, but when time isn’t on your side, stick to your cleansers and basic products and your skin will thank you in the end.
